Menstrie Meeting 2002

We held an all day meeting at the Scout Hall, Menstrie (near Stirling) in May for model building, demonstrations and a general chat. We also held our first annual special race/challenge. This year it was a Hill Climb challenge. See the Challenge Rules page for more details.

Menstrie Challenge - Report

The Hill Climb Challenge was held at Menstrie on 18 May 2002. The object was to see which entrant could travel 1 metre along a board at the steepest slope using only a Meccano Postwar Clockwork Motor No.1. The challenge was exciting and the result were very close.

The winner was Tim Edwards with his three wheeler which managed to make it up a 60cm rise for the 1 metre travel (a gradient of 37 deg).

In a close second place was the proxy entry of David Laurance's 'Intrepid' four wheeler which just managed to beat the rest of the entrants
