Comments: First Meccano set was a #5 as a Christmas present in 1947. 1st model was built that day with a lot of help from Dad, which was the Derrick Crane (5.20). Plates blue with sharp corners !! I now have a grandson(5) & a collection of parts and we have had a go at some small models together. He likes it more than Lego, and from Timothy, I got instructions for sets 1,2&3, but his site no longer seems to work ?? and grandson wants instruction for set #4. Help !!

Comments: I've a large collection of Meccano, in a tailor-made compartmented wooden box, (71cm x 38cm x 11cm) made by my dad for me and my two brothers. None of our children showed any interest, so it's looking for a good home. My dad, who passed away last year, wanted it to stay together in its box, so I'm looking for someone who might want the whole lot.
If any member of your club would like it, and can collect it from Edinburgh, they can have it, (perhaps in return they could make a small donation to Headway Edinburgh.) I'm happy to send photos of the contents.

Comments: Great site - congratulations to Tim Edwards. I was given an Outfit No. 4 for Christmas 1945 and spent all my pocket money on spare parts from then on at a dealer in Union Street. I left for South Africa in 1952.
